the herriott grace film – a quick peek

A year ago now,
John Cullen and I
packed our bags
and headed to my parent’s farm
on Vancouver Island.

We had decided only a couple weeks earlier
that we’d like to make a film
about what it is my father does.
About who he is and how he got there.
A film about what Herriott Grace means to him.
And so we did and it was amazing.

In large part,
what we do at HG is possible
because you guys
encourage and support us,
and we think that makes us a pretty lucky pair.
So thank you.

And thank you to John Cullen,
Paul Proux at Stealing Time
and Supplemental Films.
I’m so very grateful.
xo, n

ps: the full version of the film will  be available here on june 14

  60. Inspiring. Beautiful. It’s very moving that he was so humble, didn’t really regard himself as a craftsman and that his work has been so well received, proving that he is in fact a great craftsman. I pine for the things in your shop…they’re heirloom quality. Can’t wait to see the rest of the film and am even more excited for the workshop in August. You & your father’s work is truly some of the best out there in my opinion. And the internet has it’s massive down sides, but I think it’s very cool that I can live and work in Tennessee and still discover a man’s work from Vancouver Island!

  61. Lucie says:

    This trailer is great Nikole!!

  62. marita says:

    Wow.

I’ve loved you style for ages. Your images are really inspiring and then I watched this film and it finishes with a still of Hornby Island. Where does your father live? Qualicum? This is where I’m from only now I live in England and it has made me very homesick.
    Thank you.

  63. Heather says:

Amazing. For two reasons. Your dad is clearly awesome, straight through to his core. The second reason is -good on you- for supporting your dad and believing in him and showing him that the world appreciates his views and ideas. My heart is warmed.

  64. Deon says:

Hello from Australia! Such a beautiful short film. From love, comes wonderful things!
