a little on my lately
hello!
just stopping in to say a quick hi,
how are things?
i’ve been traveling a little lately
not far from home
but just far enough somehow.it’s been the kind
that opens your eyes.
the kind that reminds you
to sit up and to take notice.
the kind that says,
hey look, look how beautiful life can be.
look how wonderful a meal can be.
look how amazing
someplace new can be.
we put our cameras away to eat (most times)
and we turned off our phones.
we spent hours enjoying the spectacle
of just how perfect, a meal can be.
we walked across a bridge
we stood in the rain
and we ate at neighborhood kind of places.
it was amazing,
amazing in a way that is difficult to explain.
amazing in a way that weeks later, still lingers.
we left new york on a sunday
spent monday in toronto
then set off for the maritimes the very next day.
we saw towns with
nearly no people,
we ate chowder from old worn bowls.
we broke biscuits,
and had butter local to there.
we saw foxes
and lobsters
and one very large moose.
we saw an ocean, many rivers
and lakes by the sea.
it was, i’ll say
the kind of travel that opens your eyes.
the kind that makes you love the city
and the countryside
near equally the same.
the kind that fills your sails
with all the possibility out there,
all the good.
happy trails friends,
i hope things are swell.
xo, n.
